Best of the Best 4: Without Warning is an action film written, directed by and starring Phillip Rhee. Rhee plays Tommy Lee, a martial arts instructor who trains the local police department in hand-to-hand combat. Lee is forced to go on the run when he is handed a data disc from a defecting Russian mobster. The Russian mob had stolen a large amount of currency paper used to print United States bills. They then used the paper to fill the market with counterfeit bills, and the CD could ruin them if it falls into the hands of the FBI. The mob kidnaps Lee's daughter to leverage him into giving them the disc. Instead, Lee goes on the offensive against the bad guys, ultimately blowing the mafia leaders up with a bomb as they attempt to escape on a plane. Ernie Hudson costars as Detective Gresko, a stubborn cop who frequently butts heads with Lee. Gresko falsely believes that Lee is corrupt and is determined to bring him to justice. He even gets in a fight with Lee later in the film. He later realizes that he and Lee are on the same side, and they team up against the mob. Chris Lemmon plays Jack Jarvis, a crooked cop who Lee is forced to kill in self-defense once he learns Jarvis is working for the Russian mafia. Tobin Bell plays Slava, the head of the Russian counterfeiting operation. Jessica Huang portrays Lee's daughter, Stephanie, who gets kidnapped for ransom. The film features various action scenes, with Lee fending off multiple stick-fighting assailants using a fencing sword in one sequence. The Russian mob blows up a railway station and kills multiple civilians and police officers in the hijacking of the currency paper in the film's opening. The movie also features an original score by David Grant and cinematography by Michael D. Margulies.
