In the movie Blended, Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore reunite as love interests for the third time since first sharing the screen in The Wedding Singer and later in 50 First Dates. Sandler plays Jim Friedman, a widowed father of three daughters. His failed blind date with Lauren Reynolds, played by Barrymore, is contrasted with her successful one with her ex-husband. Jim's best friend and business partner, played by Kevin Nealon, suggests that they both take their families to an African resort. What neither of them knows is that the resort was designed specifically for unmarried couples to enjoy tropical surroundings and perhaps to find love.

Upon arrival, Jim and Lauren discover that they are the only families at the resort, along with some of Jim's employees at the sporting goods store he owns. They reluctantly agree to share a suite that has more than one bathroom, but immediately clash over everything from their respective eating habits to their views on dating. Meanwhile, their children similarly struggle to adapt to their new surroundings and to get along with each other. Jim's oldest daughter is obsessed with fashion at the expense of her sisters, who resent her for it. Lauren's two boys have trouble communicating, and both struggle to come to terms with the separation of their parents.

Through a series of awkward and comic mishaps, Jim and Lauren find themselves and their children participating in a variety of resort activities, including the safari, water sports, and cultural events. Along the way, they begin to realize that they can help each other with their children's problems and slowly develop feelings for each other. The children also start to bond, finding common ground despite their initial animosity.

The movie is a blend of family comedy, romance, and heartwarming moments. The chemistry between Sandler and Barrymore is undeniable, and their banter is both funny and touching. The supporting cast, including Wendi McLendon-Covey as Lauren's best friend and Frank Coraci as the resort manager, add some comedic relief and serve as sounding boards for the main characters. Terry Crews also has a memorable cameo as the resort performer, belting out musical numbers and adding some unexpected humor.

Blended tackles some serious themes, such as grief, divorce, and parenting, but balances them with lighthearted moments and plenty of laughs. The movie ultimately sends a positive message about the power of family and the importance of taking risks to find happiness. While it may not break any new ground or surprise audiences, it delivers on what it promises: an entertaining and heartwarming romantic comedy that is sure to make you smile.

Blended is a 2014 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 57 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.5 and a MetaScore of 31.
