Brain Smasher... A Love Story is a romantic comedy from 1993, directed by Albert Pyun. The movie tells the story of Ed Molloy (Andrew Dice Clay), a bouncer and former professional wrestler, who is hired by a Japanese businessman named Yoshida (Yuji Okumoto) to protect his daughter, Sam (Teri Hatcher), from a group of vengeful ninjas.

Ed and Sam do not hit it off right away. Sam is a spoiled and condescending fashion model, while Ed is a rough and tough guy who doesn't take kindly to her teasing. However, they soon find out that they have a common enemy in the ninjas, who want to kill Sam to get revenge on her father for betraying them.

As they flee from the ninjas, Ed and Sam start to develop feelings for each other. However, their road to romance is not without its obstacles. They have to deal with a jealous ex-boyfriend, a band of neo-Nazis, and a mob boss who wants Yoshida dead. But through it all, they continue to grow closer.

Andrew Dice Clay delivers a charismatic and hilarious performance as Ed Molloy. He infuses the character with his trademark comedy style, using his quick wit and sharp tongue to create a lovable hero that audiences will root for. Teri Hatcher, best known for her role on the TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, is also enjoyable as Sam. While her character initially comes off as shallow, she gradually reveals her vulnerable side, making her more relatable and sympathetic.

Yuji Okumoto, who played Chozen Toguchi in The Karate Kid Part II, is convincing as the businessman who hires Ed. He brings depth to the character, showing him as a man torn between his love for his daughter and his loyalty to his former ninja clan. Deborah Van Valkenburgh, who played Mercy in The Warriors, also appears in a small role as a neo-Nazi leader.

Despite the title, the movie is more of a comedy than an action film. There are some fight scenes and car chases, but they are not particularly impressive. The focus is more on the characters and their interactions. The humor is often crude and politically incorrect, but it is also genuinely funny at times.

One of the most memorable aspects of the movie is the soundtrack. It is filled with catchy songs from popular bands of the time, such as The Spin Doctors, 4 Non Blondes, and Gin Blossoms. The music adds to the movie's fun, upbeat tone.

Overall, Brain Smasher... A Love Story is a silly but enjoyable romantic comedy with a unique premise. While it may not be a cinematic masterpiece, it is a fun and entertaining movie that will leave audiences laughing and feeling good.
