Breaking In is a thriller film from 2018 that stars Gabrielle Union as Shaun Russell, a mother who travels with her two children to her late father's secluded mansion to settle his affairs after his death. However, things quickly take a dark turn when four criminals break into the mansion with the aim of finding a safe containing millions of dollars. With her children trapped inside, Shaun must use her wits and physical abilities to outsmart the criminals and save her family.

The movie begins by introducing Shaun as a successful businesswoman who takes no nonsense from anyone. She is tough, smart, and fiercely independent. Her relationship with her father was strained, and she struggles with the emotional fallout of his death. However, when she arrives at his mansion, she is determined to do what needs to be done.

Things take a turn for the worse when four criminals arrive at the mansion in search of a safe that they believe contains millions of dollars. The leader of the group, Eddie, played by Billy Burke, is ruthless and calculated. His team includes Sam, played by Levi Meaden, Peter, played by Mark Furze, and Duncan, played by Richard Cabral. Each member of the gang has their own unique skill set that they use to try and break into the safe.

Shaun's initial reaction is to call the police, but her daughter Jasmine's phone is in the hands of one of the criminals, and they quickly force her to hang up. Shaun realizes that her only chance of saving her children is to take matters into her own hands. She quickly puts her skills to use by disabling the security system and arming herself with whatever she can find around the house.

What follows is a tense game of cat and mouse as Shaun tries to outsmart the criminals and rescue her children. The criminals are brutal and willing to do whatever it takes to get what they want. They are willing to hurt anyone who stands in their way, including Shaun's children.

The movie's strength lies in Gabrielle Union's performance as Shaun. She is a force to be reckoned with, able to take on the criminals with ease. She is resourceful and creative in her methods, using her knowledge of the house's security system to her advantage. Her love for her children is palpable, and her determination to protect them at all costs is inspiring.

Billy Burke's performance as Eddie is also noteworthy. He is cold and calculating, willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants. He is a formidable opponent for Shaun, and their interactions are some of the most intense scenes in the movie.

Richard Cabral's performance as Duncan is also notable. He is the muscle of the group, and his unpredictability makes him a dangerous opponent. He is willing to use extreme force to get what he wants, making him a formidable foe for Shaun.

The movie is not without its flaws, however. The pacing can be slow at times, and some of the characters are underdeveloped. Additionally, some of the plot points can be predictable. However, these issues do not detract from the overall quality of the movie.

In conclusion, Breaking In is a high stakes thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Gabrielle Union's performance as Shaun is outstanding, and the supporting cast delivers strong performances as well. The movie is not without its flaws, but it is an entertaining and suspenseful ride from start to finish.

Breaking In is a 2018 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 28 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.5 and a MetaScore of 42.
