Watch Center Stage

This movie centers around a school called the American Ballet Academy, and a group of students and their journey through the school. Each student has his or her own struggles. Jody, one of the main characters, goes through the movie being criticized for her "bad feet," and has to overcome this flaw in order to become the dancer she knows she can be. As the students become friends, they help each other work through their struggles, in order to find their place in the world of ballet, and in the world as a whole. Love plays a big role in this area, as students find themselves in a world where love is an obstacle. One character sees it as a distraction, and won't allow her daughter to even date anyone. When Maureen falls for a man who is not only not a dancer, but completely "wrong" for her ambitions, Maureen has to choose between the life she sees outside of dancing, and the life of hard work that she would have if she stayed at the academy. Eva, one of the best dancers at the school, is completely undisciplined at the beginning of the movie, and refuses to put herself in the middle of the politics that seem to run the school. Because of this, she is ostracized, and has to come to terms with the fact that she's at the academy because she loves to dance, and wants a job dancing, not because of all the other stuff she has to deal with. While each student struggles through the academy, the audience gets to watch some truly amazing ballet. The girls are beautiful, and amazing dancers, while the guys are cute, and are amazing dancers themselves. This movie describes, in dramatic detail, the struggles that come with a job that is physically demanding, and also demands perfection. By the end of the movie, each audience member is given someone to identify with, and is shown choices on how to overcome obstacles.
