Dark Woods is an independent horror film from 2010, directed by Michael Escobedo. The story follows three friends: Kerry (Tracy Coogan), Allison (Mary Kate Wiles), and Max (John Muscarnero), who decide to spend the weekend in the woods to celebrate their friend's birthday. However, things take a turn for the worse when they become lost and must fight for their lives against a group of evil supernatural creatures.

The movie starts with Kerry and her friends driving to the woods, where they plan to camp and have fun. The trio soon realizes that they are lost and cannot find their way back to civilization. As night falls, they hear strange noises and encounter several supernatural creatures, including a group of zombies and a woman who can shapeshift into various animals.

The characters soon realize that they are being hunted by the creatures, and must work together to survive the night. The tension builds as they try to stay alive, and the movie keeps the audience on edge with its eerie and suspenseful atmosphere.

One of the strengths of Dark Woods is its use of practical effects to create the scary creatures. The zombies, for example, are not your typical slow-walking undead but are instead fast-moving and incredibly violent. The makeup and costumes are well done, and the creatures look genuinely terrifying.

The performances of the main cast are also impressive. Tracy Coogan is particularly good as Kerry, a tough and resourceful young woman who is determined to stay alive. Mary Kate Wiles and John Muscarnero also deliver convincing performances as Allison and Max, respectively.

The movie is not without its flaws, however. The pacing can be slow at times, and some of the characters' decisions are implausible. There are also a few scenes that feel unnecessary and add little to the overall story.

Despite these issues, Dark Woods is an entertaining and well-made horror movie that is worth watching. The ending is satisfying and provides a sense of closure, while leaving open the possibility of a sequel.

Overall, Dark Woods is a solid low-budget horror movie that delivers scares and suspense. If you're a fan of the genre, it's definitely worth checking out.
