In this horror sequel, an evil spirit returns in the form of a clown to a small Maine town where it wreaked havoc years before. The kids who fought off the evil back then are all grown up now, and they'll need their maturity to be victorious this time. The film follows the adventures of a group of friends who are forced to fight off an evil presence in the small Maine town of Derry. The friends faced this menace (which often takes the form of an extremely creepy clown) 27 years ago when they were children. After temporarily defeating the evil clown back then, they made a pact to return and do battle once more if the creepy thing ever came back. Now he's back, and the young adults have to struggle with their commitment to save the world.

The film is based on the 1986 horror novel It by Stephen King. The film splits the story of the novel into two parts, with the childhood confrontation with Pennywise the clown making up the plot of the original 2017 film. That film was one of the most financially successful movies of the year, and the sequel was eagerly awaited.

It: Chapter Two received mixed reviews from critics, who found the sequel to be overlong and not nearly as scary as its predecessor. Most critics, however, praised the cast's performances. Audiences seemed to agree, and the sequel did not fair nearly as well as the original at the box office.
