The Descent is a story sporting an all female cast. It is a creature feature horror film. The show is rated R for language and violence. Run time is about one hour and forty minutes. When a group of eight friends decide to take a vacation to help one of the girls take her mind off the tragedy of the death of her husband and daughter in an accident. The eight girls are cave explorers and decide to set out and map an unknown area in hopes of naming and claiming it for their own. At first climbing down into the old mining shaft seems harmless and nothing that the group can't handle. As they go through the darkened tunnels they discover human remains from other groups that have explored the sight. The girls keep thinking that they are seeing and hearing things but, have no proof and slowly start to go crazy trying to find a way out of the cave. As they move forward through the caves, one by one members of the group are slowly picked off by hungry creatures that feed on human flesh. Unable to see in the dark, the creatures use sound to track the girls deeper into the cave. While fighting one of the creatures a girl Juno accidentally stabs one of her friends in the neck. Easing her to the floor of the cavern she soon learns that the girl knew of her affair with Sarah's husband before his accidental death. Juno leaves her behind to bleed to death on the cave floor. Sarah trying to find the remainder of the girls stumbles across her dying friend who tells her of Juno's betrayal with her husband and the fact she left her there to die. In the end only Sarah and Juno are left to face the creatures while trying to escape the cave. In order to save herself Sarah stabs Juno in the leg to draw the creatures attention away from her so that she can escape the cave. In the end you see Sarah driving away from the cave and Juno sitting in the car next to her. This movie has two endings depending on what country the movie was shown. UK versions set you up for a sequel.
