Devil Makes Work from 2014 is a horror movie that revolves around two main characters - Jack (Sebastian Canciglia) and his daughter Lisa (Holly Lucas). Jack is a struggling artist who is having a hard time providing for his daughter after the death of his wife. Naturally, he becomes desperate and is subject to making some very questionable decisions in order to make ends meet.
One day, Jack receives a mysterious phone call that changes everything. The voice on the other end of the line tells Jack that he is now in debt to the Devil and that he must carry out some horrific tasks in order to pay it off. If he fails to do so, his soul - as well as Lisa's - will be taken to Hell. Jack is understandably skeptical, but before he can fully process what is happening, he is thrown into a world of the occult and supernatural, where the stakes are high and the price of failure is unbearable.
Through a series of gruesome and terrifying events, Jack is forced to confront his own demons while battling the very forces of evil itself. Along the way, he meets some interesting characters, including the enigmatic and mysterious demon Az (Shaun Dooley) and the weathered and worn-out hunter Gabriel (Michael English). Together, they form an unlikely alliance and set out to destroy the Devil once and for all.
Devil Makes Work is a movie that is definitely not for the faint of heart. It is a dark, twisted tale that explores the depths of human desperation and the consequences of making deals with evil. The movie is well-executed, with strong performances from the lead actors and some genuinely terrifying moments that keep you on the edge of your seat. At times, it can be quite unsettling and uncomfortable to watch, but that only adds to the overall sense of dread and horror that permeates the film.
One of the best things about Devil Makes Work is its visuals. The movie has a distinctly "grimy" feel to it, with a lot of dimly-lit shots and rough, gritty camerawork that adds to the overall sense of unease. The special effects are also quite impressive, especially the scenes where Jack and his allies battle various supernatural creatures. The movie has a lot of creative creature designs, and the fight scenes are well choreographed and exciting to watch.
Another highlight of Devil Makes Work is its story. The movie does a great job of keeping you guessing as to what is really going on, and the twists and turns are genuinely surprising. The characters are all well-developed and interesting, and you genuinely care about what happens to them. The film also manages to balance its horror elements with some humor and heart, which prevents it from becoming too bleak and oppressive.
Overall, Devil Makes Work is a great addition to the horror genre. It is a smart, thoughtful movie that manages to deliver some genuinely disturbing and terrifying moments while also exploring some interesting themes and ideas. If you are a fan of horror movies that are both stylish and smart, then this is definitely a movie that you should check out. Just be warned - it's not for the faint of heart!
