Drop Zone is an action adventure movie set aboard a commercial passenger airplane. Wesley Snipes stars as U.S. Marshall Pete Nessip, who is transferring a computer hacker and convict across the country for a prison transfer. Pete is accompanied by his fellow U.S. Marshall and brother, Terry. A hijacker blows a hole in the plane, and Terry is propelled out of the hole, falling to his death. The terrorists also escape while rescuing the prisoner. Pete is investigated and found to be responsible for the escape and is removed from his position. He refuses to believe that the attempted hijacking was not to free the prisoner. He thinks that the terrorists and the prisoner used parachutes. Later in the film, Pete's suspicions are confirmed when he discovers that former DEA agent Ty Moncrief rescued the computer hacker to use his skills to hack into the DEA computer systems in order to sell the information to drug cartels. Pete is devastated over the loss of his brother and his job. He seeks out Jessie Crossman, who is a famous skydiver. Jessie agrees to train Pete in skydiving when her ex-husband is murdered by Moncrief after being double crossed. The plan is to get Pete trained so that he can infiltrate Moncrief's attempt to execute his plan during a skydiving exhibition and fireworks display in Washington, D.C. Moncrief makes an attempt on Jessie's life by rigging her parachute, but a fellow skydiver uses the chute instead. Pete steps in for her teammate in the exhibition. After Pete teaches the team about Moncrief's plan, they agree to help him stop Moncrief from completing his plan. Jessie sneaks onto Moncrief's plane, but she is discovered and thrown out. Pete makes his own jump, and Moncrief and Pete's parachute group land on the roof of the D.E.A. building. Moncrief takes Jessie hostage. The face-off in the computer room will decide if Pete can avenge his brother and stop Moncrief's plot.
