The comedic drama Duets was written by John Byrum and directed by Bruce Paltrow, whose daughter, Gwyneth Paltrow, plays Liv, one of the lead characters. Liv is one of several karaoke enthusiasts who is making her way to Omaha in order to participate in a nationwide karaoke contest. Along with five other main characters, she is on a voyage of self-discovery and musical adventure. Their quests intersect throughout the movie as they encounter one another and sing both in cooperation and competition with each other. The extensive cast includes cameos from the professional singer Michael Buble and features Huey Lewis in a prominent role. The movie, which includes renditions of such songs as Hit Me With Your Best Shot; Hello, It's Me; What Have You Done For Me Lately; I Can't Make You Love Me; and Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me). The film runs 112 minutes and is rated R for extensive sexuality and language.
