Watch Dum Laga Ke Haisha

In this romantic comedy, a physically small man is entered into an arranged marriage with an overweight woman. Their already awkward situation becomes even moreso when they're required to take part in the annual wife-carrying contest. The film was released in 2015 to mostly positive reviews. Set in the 1990s, the story follows a video store owner who is part of an organization that prizes service to country over personal relationships. So when the man agrees to marry a woman to whom he's not physically attracted, he has little interest in being romantic with her. Instead, he envies his friend's pretty, thin wife and bemoans his own situation. The man's family encourages him to enter a local contest in which husbands must carry their wives through an obstacle course. He resists, but when he tries to file for divorce instead, the court rules that the couple must compete in the contest. The predicament is made more awkward by the fact that his wife is overweight. As the pair try to cope with the difficult situation, they find that their relationship is deepening unexpectedly. This Bollywood film was financially successful in India. And its soundtrack composed by the Italian artist Andrea Guerra was very popular. The film did receive some criticism from those who thought that star Bhumi Pednekar was body shamed because of her weight.
