In a small town in Indiana, two girls, Sarah and Jillian, share a strong and close friendship, even though they are complete opposites in every aspect of life. Sarah is a charming character, straight-A student, athlete, and all-around good girl whom everyone loves and adores in their small Indiana town. She lives with her mother who is also ambitious like her daughter, but falls short in a sense because she is a workaholic, constantly stressed out by day-to-day activities, and this sometimes places added stress on their mother-daughter relationship. Jillian, on the other hand, is the black sheep of the town, the outsider, the outcast. She is constantly angry with the world, and she makes it very apparent with her attitude out in the open, drenching every aspect of her personality. She is constantly scorned by her mother, as well as the people of the town they live in. No one seems to like her very much other than Sarah, who is possibly her one and only true friend. It appears she has the mentality and view that her self is to be "elsewhere," that is, anywhere but here. She hopes to meet a man on the internet who will escort her away from all that she hates in the mundane day-to-day life she has in her small town and give her the life she aspires for, full of risk and adventure. Despite it being very risky to meet strangers online, she dives right in, without a single counter or rational thought. Once Jillian suddenly disappears after her mysterious online encounter, the audience follows Sarah on her journey to unravel the mystery behind her missing friend, a very moving task for any young woman.
