He begins suspecting that Emma was indeed the real target. He traces the pistol back to Emma's boyfriend, David, who is living in fear of a local corporation known Northmoor, where Emma worked. As Craven investigates, he makes a startling discovery that may be the main reason why Emma was assassinated. Emma found out that Northmoor was covertly fabricating nuclear weaponry using materials and specifications sourced from foreign countries.
