The movie Epoch is of the scientific film genre. It stars David Keith, Brian Thompson, and Shannon Lee. This team is sent to find and study a strange creature before it means trouble for Earth. The movie starts off by telling the story of Earth four billion years ago. At this time an object from outer space fell into the oceans. This object does not surface again until present time. In the mountains of Bhutan this artifact comes up to the surface. The result is an electromagnetic pulse which causes blackouts all over the world. Due to the blackouts the United States government sends a team to investigate. The team finds this artifact but the natives of Bhutan think that it is a gift. They think the God's gave it to them. The team enters the artifact but have to pull out due to heavy fire by the Chinese military. The United States and China are at arms over what should be done with this artifact. The team continues to investigate and think that this artifact started the life on Earth. Due to the firing from China the artifact releases a thick blanket of clouds. These clouds cover the plant and do not allow sunlight to get through. Many think this is the end of life on Earth. The United States soldiers plants a bomb in the artifact. Instead of blowing up it seems to gain power and leaves the Earth. It goes off into space. The team that was sent to destroy it slowly recover. The team notices some changes since they came in contact with it. One scientist that was not able to have children before is now pregnant. She thinks this is due to her encounter with the artifact. Others start to notice that this thing changed them as well.
