Ernest Scared Stupid is an early 90's Jim Varney vehicle. It is about a curse put on a small town by a Troll named Trantor, and the character of Ernest P. Worrell. The film highlights teamwork, the importance of bravery in the face of adversity. There are many scenes where the main characters, Ernest, and the local town children, are faced with certain doom. As in a scene towards the climax involving a tree house, but when all the characters, the other towns people together, all hope is not lost.

Despite Ernest's bumbling personality, the viewer will get the sense that he's a kid at heart, and only out to help defend the town he loves against Trantor, with the help of the people he calls his friends.
