Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween is a 2018 adventure comedy film based on the popular children's book series of the same name by R.L. Stine. The movie follows two best friends, Sonny and Sam, who stumble upon an unpublished manuscript by R.L. Stine in an abandoned house in their neighborhood. They unwittingly bring to life a new breed of Goosebumps monsters, including the terrifying ventriloquist dummy Slappy.

The film is directed by Ari Sandel and stars Wendi McLendon-Covey as the boys' mother, Kathy, Madison Iseman as Sonny's older sister, Sarah, and Jeremy Ray Taylor as Sonny, one of the main protagonists. The film also features some actors reprising their roles from the first Goosebumps movie, including Jack Black as the voice of Slappy, and Danny Pudi as Mr. Chu.

The movie is set in a typical Midwestern town during the lead up to Halloween. Despite the scares and pranks that usually come along with the holiday, Sonny and Sam are getting a bit too old to be trick-or-treating. They decide to start their own business, "The Junk Bros," to clean out people's attics and basements in exchange for Halloween candy.

While on a job, they discover a mysterious locked book, which they eventually manage to open, unleashing the mischievous Slappy. He quickly proves to be a handful, taking over Sonny's social studies class, setting things on fire, and causing general havoc. Slappy's ultimate goal, however, is to create an army of monsters to carry out his revenge on his creator, R.L. Stine, whom he feels has not given him the attention he deserves.

The boys team up with Sarah and her friend, local genius and science enthusiast, Champ, to stop Slappy's plans. Along the way, they encounter a variety of Goosebumps creatures, including gummy bears that grow to enormous size, a witch who turns people into creatures of the night, and a giant spider. The group must use their knowledge of science and technology to defeat the monsters and send them back to the pages of R.L. Stine's manuscript.

Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween is a fun and exciting adventure for children and fans of the Goosebumps series. It has plenty of jumps and scares, but also a lot of humor and heart. While it doesn't quite reach the same level of quality as the first Goosebumps film, it still manages to capture the spirit of the books and is a worthy addition to the franchise.

The performances from the young cast members are strong, with Madison Iseman standing out in particular as the responsible and resourceful Sarah. Jack Black's return as the voice of Slappy is a highlight of the film. He brings the right level of menace and humor to the character, making him a memorable and entertaining villain.

The special effects are impressive, with a lot of attention to detail paid to each of the different monsters. The gummy bear attack sequence is a standout, both visually stunning and laugh-out-loud funny.

Overall, Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween is a fun and spooky adventure that is perfect for families to watch together during the Halloween season. It has plenty of scares and laughs, and a strong cast of characters that will appeal to both old and new fans of the Goosebumps franchise.

Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween is a 2018 adventure movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 29 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.6 and a MetaScore of 53.
