Far From Home is a drama film that follows the life of a recent widower, James, who decides to go on a road trip with his son, Dorian, for a much-needed break. James, a successful businessman, has been struggling to cope after the sudden death of his wife, and is seeing a therapist to deal with his grief. Dorian, on the other hand, has been acting out and getting into trouble at school ever since his mother passed away.

The duo sets off on a journey to visit James' childhood home in rural British Columbia. Along the way, they encounter a number of interesting characters and situations that challenge their relationship and bond as father and son.

The first few days of their trip are relatively uneventful, but things take a turn when they get into a minor car accident in the middle of nowhere. They are stranded with no cell service or anyone around to help them. This forces James and Dorian to spend more time together and confront their feelings about their loss and each other.

As they continue on their journey, they meet a woman named Billie, who runs a small motel in the middle of the woods. James and Dorian end up staying there for a few nights and get to know Billie and her son, who is the same age as Dorian. Billie and James develop a close friendship while Dorian spends most of his time hanging out with Billie's son and doing things that he is not allowed to do at home.

As they near James' childhood home, they encounter a few more obstacles that cause tension and strain in their relationship. However, they eventually arrive at their destination and James is forced to confront his past and the events that led him to become the man he is today. The trip ends up being a cathartic experience for both James and Dorian, and they return home with a newfound appreciation and respect for each other.

Overall, Far From Home is a touching and emotional story about a father and son who are trying to navigate their way through grief and loss. The performances by Barry Watson, Aleks Paunovic and Stefanie von Pfetten are top-notch and the cinematography beautifully captures the Canadian wilderness. The movie may be slow-paced for some, but it is a poignant and thought-provoking film that leaves a lasting impression.
