Franklyn is a psychological thriller movie that was directed and written by Gerald McMorrow in 2008. The movie explores multiple themes, including love, revenge, faith, and hope, and interweaves them into a narrative that takes place in both the present day and the fictional future city of Meanwhile City. The plot revolves around four main characters: Emilia (Eva Green), Peter (Bernard Hill), Milo (Sam Riley), and Jonathan Preest (Ryan Phillippe), who are all struggling with their personal demons and trying to find meaning and purpose in a world that seems to have lost its soul.

Emilia is a talented artist who has just broken up with her partner and is struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts. She believes that her ex-boyfriend, Daniel (Art Malik), has been possessed by demons and is dragging her down with him. However, her attempts to save him lead her to the brink of insanity and she finds herself trapped in a dangerous game of cat and mouse.

Peter is a devout Christian who lost his faith when his son died and is now trying to atone for his sins by helping others. He works as a vigilante, helping people who have been wronged by the system and taking revenge on those who have hurt them. However, his moral code is put to the test when he is hired to kill someone he knows and respects.

Milo is a young man who is obsessed with a girl he met online and is hoping to meet her in person. He travels to Meanwhile City, a place that exists outside of time and space and is inhabited by people who have lost touch with reality. However, he soon realizes that the girl he is looking for does not exist and that he has been lured into a trap by a group of fanatics who are trying to bring about the end of the world.

Jonathan Preest is a masked vigilante who is on a mission to kill the Prophet (Peter Ferdinando), the leader of a religious cult that has taken over Meanwhile City. He is pursued by the police and his past is slowly revealed through flashbacks. It is eventually revealed that he is a former member of the cult who was exiled and is seeking revenge.

As the movie progresses, the four main characters' stories become intertwined and their fates are linked to one another. The narrative shifts back and forth between Emilia's struggles with her ex-boyfriend, Peter's moral dilemma, Milo's quest for love, and Jonathan Preest's vendetta, building towards a shocking climax where their stories converge.

The movie's futuristic setting is visually stunning, with Meanwhile City portrayed as a dark, oppressive place where technology and religion have merged into a dystopian society. McMorrow's direction is imaginative and thought-provoking, and the performances from the cast are compelling, particularly Eva Green's portrayal of Emilia, who gives the movie its emotional core.

Overall, Franklyn is a complex and challenging movie that explores deep themes and questions the nature of reality and belief. Its non-linear narrative and multiple storylines may be confusing for some viewers, but for those who are willing to engage with it, the movie is a rewarding and thought-provoking experience.

Franklyn is a 2008 fantasy movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 35 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.0.
