Friendship’s Field is a family film about overcoming racism and prejudice. Told to the main female lead’s daughter through flashbacks, the story takes place in 1965 Idaho in a small and rather prejudiced town. Iris’s family, however, is different. The father recognizes the good in all people, regardless of race, and teaches this to his children. When migrant workers are hired to work on their beet farm, Iris, who calls herself "Ira", meets and befriends a Mexican boy who has come there with his family. Despite disapproval from the racist townspeople, they have adventures and remain friends.
