Watch Funny Face
- 1 hr 43 min
Fashion photographer Dick Avery (Fred Astaire) and magazine editor Maggie Prescott (Kay Thompson) are on the look out for the next big thing, something sophisticated and intellectual. To this end they find a Greenwich Village bookstore to use for a shoot. It's owned by the shy and brainy Jo Stockton (Audrey Hepburn) who dismisses the fashion world as frivolous. To distract her and get use of the store, they trick her into posing for a few photos, which when developed later on convince Avery that he has unwittingly found his fresh new face. Jo isn't interested until she learns they want her to go with them to Paris, home of her favorite philosopher, whose lectures she has been desperately wanting to attend. She agrees to model for them, and as she and Avery traverse the most romantic city in the world taking glamorous photos, the inevitable happens and they begin to develop feelings for each other despite being polar opposites. Directed by Stanley Donen, with songs by George and Ira Gershwin. Famous fashion photographer Richard Avedon provided the photos for the film, and was the inspiration for the lead role.
