Go Karts is an Australian movie that revolves around a young boy named Jack (William Lodder) who has a passion for go-kart racing. After losing his father in an accident, Jack moves to a new town with his mother Christie (Frances O'Connor) and begins to attend a new school. At school, Jack meets a group of go-kart enthusiasts who convince him to join their team.

However, Jack's transition into the new school is not a smooth one. He has a hard time fitting in and feels like an outcast amongst his peers. Jack's social status takes a hit when he gets into a fight with a school bully and lands him in trouble with his teachers. Jack's only solace is his passion for go-kart racing, which he sees as his ticket to redemption.

Under the guidance of his coach Patrick (Richard Roxburgh), Jack starts to excel in his go-kart racing. Jack's passion and determination towards racing begin to attract the attention of his new friends and his crush, Mandy (Anastasia Bampos). Jack's friendship with Mandy starts to blossom, and they both bond over their mutual love for go-kart racing.

However, Jack's journey towards success is not a smooth one. Jack's rival, Dean (Cooper van Grootel), who is the star of the school's go-kart racing team, sees Jack as a threat and starts to sabotage his races. Jack and his team must overcome all obstacles and work together to win the go-kart championship race.

The story's emotional depth is strengthened by the realistic and grounded performances of the movie's actors. William Lodder, who plays the lead role of Jack, delivers a convincing performance as a teenager struggling with grief and trying to find his place in a new environment. Frances O'Connor's portrayal of Jack's mother Christy is also noteworthy as it captures the essence of a parent trying to support her child while also dealing with her own life's struggles.

Another standout aspect of the movie is its stunning visuals. The movie features breathtaking shots of the Australian countryside and the fast-paced and adrenaline-pumping sport of go-kart racing. The racing scenes are well-shot, and the sound design captures the revving of the engines and the screeching of the tires, further enhancing the movie's immersive experience.
