The movie Gothika is a supernatural horror film that was written by Sebastian Guterez, and directed by Mathieu Kassovitz. The movie follows Miranda Grey, who works at an asylum as a psychiatrist. Miranda, whose character is played by actress Halle Berry finds herself working with a troubled young woman. The troubled young woman played by actress Penelope Cruz, has problems that soon become her own. While driving home one night, Halle encounters a young girl on a washed out bridge. When Halle's character approaches the young girl she is possessed by her. She wakes up without her memory in the very asylum where she works. Halle's character has apparently lost her memory, and has no idea why she is in the asylum as a patient. She soon learns that she is being accused of murdering her husband and the evidence against her is overwhelming. Assigned to her case is a former colleague, Pete Graham whose character is played by Robert Downey Jr. Downey's character believes that she has committed the crime, but is conflicted because he has feelings for her. While Halle's character is trying to make sense of everything that has happened, she finds herself being attacked by an entity that she cannot see. She finds an opportunity to escape the asylum and drives back to her home. When she arrives home she has vivid flashbacks of her murdering her husband in the most horrific way. Dr. Douglas Grey, whose character is played by Charles S. Dutton is the murdered husband in the movie. Prior to the murder he worked along side hs wife in the asylum, and was very well respected. After much investigation Halle's character learns that her husband is not the man that she believed him to be. Dr. Douglas Grey along with a mystery accomplice has committed horrible acts that are soon revealed to her. This revelation puts her life in danger.
