Race the Sun is an adventure comedy film that was released in 2006. The film involves a group of outcast high school students who are persuaded to enter into the local science fair by their teacher. The students succeed at the Hawaii State Science Fair and end up being invited to drive their solar powered car at a competition in Australia. The students are able to race their car across thousands of miles of outback while competing against grown ups, solar power companies, and old pros. Along the way the students are able to show that they can hold their own, and that they are able to use their brains and personalities to find belonging.

Race the Sun was written by Barry Morrow and directed by Charles T. Kanganis. The film features performances by Halle Berry, James Belushi, and Bill Hunter. The film is loosely based on the 1990 Solar Challenge.
