Loch Ness is a light-hearted fantasy film that was released in 1996. Written by John Henderson and directed by John Fusco, it stars Ted Danson as a crusty scientist named Dempsey. He is ornery and down on his luck when he is commissioned to go to Scotland in order to disprove the existence of the Loch Ness Monster, but while he is there, a magic begins to take ahold of him. The spirited woman running the bed and breakfast where he stays, her adorable young daughter and an open-hearted photographer are among the people who help his spirit to experience healing, but the question of the monster still lingers as the time draws closer for him to return to his old life. This family-friendly movie co-stars Joely Richardson as the innkeeper, Laura; Kristy Graham as Laura's young daughter Isabel; James Frain as the enthusiastic Adrian; and Ian Holm as the crusty water bailiff who has several run-ins with Dempsey before they begin to see eye-to-eye. The film, whose tagline is "Believe and you will see," carries a PG rating for mild sensuality, swearing and a fist fight. It is deemed a movie that is appropriate for viewers of all ages.
