"Great Expectations" (1974) is one of several film adaptations of the novel by Charles Dickens. It was a coming-of-age story about an orphaned boy who learns that an anonymous benefactor has left him a fortune. He therefore sets out to become a gentleman to be worthy of both his benefactor and the girl he believes he's in love with.
