Heatstroke is a 2008 thriller movie directed by Andrew Prowse and starring D.B. Sweeney, Danica McKellar, and Chris Cleveland. The movie centers around a family vacationing in Africa, where they find themselves targeted by a group of ruthless poachers. The movie begins with a scene of tourist Paul Walker (D.B. Sweeney) enjoying a safari with his son (Chris Cleveland) and girlfriend (Danica McKellar). As they admire the wildlife, they spot some poachers hunting a rhinoceros. When they report the incident to a ranger, they are told that there is nothing that can be done about it, as the poachers have already fled the area.

The family is unaware that the poachers are in fact part of a much larger operation, led by a man named Merchant (Kurt Goehner-Winter). When Merchant discovers that the family has spotted his men, he orders them to be eliminated.

As the family continues their vacation, they begin to notice that they are being followed. They are then ambushed by the poachers, who steal their vehicle and leave them stranded in the middle of the African desert. Without any means of communication, the family must rely on their survival skills to make it back to civilization alive.

The rest of the movie follows the family as they trek through the desert, facing a variety of dangers along the way. They encounter snakes, scorpions, and other wild animals, and must navigate treacherous terrain in order to find help.

Meanwhile, Merchant and his men continue to pursue the family, determined to eliminate any witnesses to their illegal activities. As they draw closer, the family realizes that they must fight back in order to survive.

One of the standout elements of Heatstroke is its stunning location. The movie was filmed on location in Namibia, and the breathtaking desert landscapes and wildlife make for a captivating backdrop.

The acting performances are solid across the board, with Sweeney delivering a convincing performance as the protective father trying to keep his family safe. McKellar also shines as his girlfriend, who must toughen up and rise to the occasion in order to survive.

The movie's pacing is a bit slow in the beginning, but eventually ramps up as the family finds themselves in more and more danger. The climax is intense and satisfying, with a satisfying resolution that ties up all loose ends.

Overall, Heatstroke is an enjoyable and suspenseful thriller that is well worth a watch. It may not reinvent the wheel in terms of its genre, but it manages to tell an engaging story with solid performances and stunning visuals.

Heatstroke is a 2008 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 29 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 3.0.
