House on Haunted Hill
- 1 hr 15 min
The House on Haunted Hill begins with Watson Pritchard telling the audience about the mystery of the house and how his brother died in the place back when he was a boy. We then cut to Fredrick Loren, an eccentric millionaire who is hosting a party at the house with a grand prize of ten thousand dollars for people who stay the whole night. Right from the get go it seems that there is something not entirely right with house. Watson shows the other party guests around, including the basement where there is a vat of acid in the bottom of the cellar. After the other guests go upstairs Nora, a woman whose nerves are already on edge is scared out of her mind by a woman, who turns out to be one of the housekeepers. Things continue to get stranger throughout the night, culminating in the finding of Fredrick's wife, Annabelle having hung herself from the stairwell. The party guests, armed with pistols that Fredrick presented as party favors quickly go to their rooms to wait out the night as everyone grows more and more suspicious of Fredrick. Nora then sees a ghostly version of Annabelle and decides to take action. She runs down to the basement and upon seeing Fredrick enter, fires her pistol and supposedly kills Fredrick. Meanwhile, it is revealed that Dr. Trent is in league with Annabelle, who faked her hanging. Confident her husband is dead, Annabelle sends Dr. Trent down to the basement to dispose of the body. When she finds that his taking forever is becoming suspicious, she goes down and finds a skeleton and hears the voice of her husband. The skeleton goads her to the acid pit and she falls in. As the guests come down Fredrick reveals that he is indeed quite alive and filled Nora's gun with blanks to make sure that nothing bad happened.
