House is a horror story that begins with a bickering young couple, Jack and Stephanie, who are lost somewhere in the backwoods while on their way to see a marriage counselor. They meet a state trooper along the way and ask for directions, only the troopers direction lead them down a road where they run over spiked metal that is laying in the road, leading to them getting in a car accident. A little bit down the road they find another car that experienced that same problem, only the car was vacant. They then continue on foot until they come across the Wayside Inn with the short staff of Betty, her son Pete, and the caretaker Stewart. There they try to call for help, but the phones don't work. Jack and Stephanie are left with no choice but to spend the night at the Inn and that is when they meet the owners of the other car, an engaged couple by the names of Leslie and Randy. They all join together for dinner, but things are a bit tense. Everyone's personalities are just clashing so they agree to just call it an early night. Then the group begins to be terrorized by the local legendary figure, the Tin Man. The Tin Man, armed with a shotgun, tries to find a way inside but the staff manages to keep him locked out. He leaves them a message outside with scattered cans stating that if they don't give him a dead body by sunrise, he will kill everyone in the house. After more madness unfolding in the story, Jack and Stephanie finally make it back to their car where they find their unconscious bodies and Randy and Leslie's dead bodies. They come to realize they were having an out of body experience and the events that take place at the Wayside Inn where meant to rekindle their failing relationship.
