Imaginary Crimes is a family drama film that was released in 1994 starring Harvey Keitel, Fairuza Balk and Vincent D'Onfrio. Imaginary Crimes was directed by Anthony Drazan and produced by James G. Robinson, adapted from Shelia Ballantyne's novel and scripted by Kristine Johnson and Davia Nelson. The story of Imaginary Crimes revolves around Ray Weiler, portrayed by Harvey Keitel, who is a widowed man with two daughters, one very young and one nearly an adult. In the past he was a small time hustler and, faced with financial crisis, he takes once again to this life of crime to make ends meet, not just for himself, but for his daughters. However, there are severe repercussions to his activities and his life begins crumbling just as everything seems to be going as planned.

The eldest daughter is a gifted writer who keeps a detailed journal and documents her attempts to create a life for herself despite her father's destructive behavior. These journal entries form the foundation for the many retrospective scenes in the film.
