Into the Sun is an action comedy spool that was written by John Brancato and Michael Ferris. Directed by Fritz Kiersch, the movie was produced by Kevin M. Kallberg, Oliver G. Hess, Jim Begg and Mark Amin for Trimark Pictures. The main cast includes Michael Pare, Anthony Michael Hall and Deborah Moore. The story follows American pilot, Paul Watkins (played by Michael Pare) who is stationed in the Middle East. Though he really doesn't want to do it, he has been recruited to train a cocky young actor for a film role. Actor Tom Slade (played by Anthony Michael Hall) will soon begin shooting an air force movie and would like to be as comfortable as possible in the part. The tension between the two men becomes far more complicated as Slade tries to flirt with a former flame of Watkins, a quiet Air Force officer (played by Deborah Maria Moore). While Slade is around these real military men, he watches them in such a way that makes them nervous. He is trying to memorize every one of their moves. First flying around Sicily, Watkins takes the arrogant actor out for a real ride in an actual F-16 fighter, hoping to cave him in. He begins by creating a demanding training regimen that Slade appears at first to handle very well, including an incredible aerial feat. His ego overtakes him and he disobeys orders and flies right back into enemy territory. When other American jets are struck down, the two must come to their rescue. As a result, their plane is shot down and they become prisoners of war and must contend with Middle Eastern Bedouins. They are taunted by American mercenaries and tortured. Now they must work as a team in order to escape from all the madness. Despite their obvious differences, Watkins and Slade learn to respect each other, mostly out of necessity.
