The movie Lisa is a typical but solid and entertaining thriller that centers around a pretty young fourteen year old girl named Lisa who lives with her over-protective mother Katherine. Like most moms and their teenage daughters, Lisa and her mother have their differences. Lisa wants to start dating, but her mom feels Lisa is too young and wants her to wait until she is sixteen. Katherine had Lisa when she was fourteen and was abandoned by the father. Plus, Katherine was forced to leave her parent’s home. This was very traumatic for Katherine, and she feels if Lisa begins to date at such a young age that she may make the same mistakes that she did. Without her mother’s knowledge, Lisa fantasizes about men and makes a game out of following older men she finds attractive. She gets their telephone numbers from their license plates and calls them on the phone. One evening, while running an errand for her mom, Lisa bumps into a handsome man on the street and is immediately taken by him after he introduces himself as Richard. She follows him and begins calling him on the phone. Lisa disguises her voice to sound older and talks seductively with Richard. She is unaware that the handsome man she is smitten with is the serial killer dubbed the Candlelight Killer who dates and kills attractive women. Richard becomes obsessed with the voice on the other end of the telephone ands tells her that he wants to meet in person. Lisa makes a date with Richard to meet at the same restaurant that her and her mom will be dining at and tells him she will be wearing a white dress. Lisa gets an idea that if her mom starts dating, she will allow her to date, so she has her mom wear a white dress. Richard mistakenly thinks the woman that he has been talking to on the phone is Katherine and tracks them down through Katherine’s credit card number. Soon, Lisa and her mom are in grave danger. This suspenseful film is directed by Gary Sherman and will keep viewers interested until the very end. It stars Staci Keanan as Lisa, and Cheryl Ladd as her mom. D.W. Moffett plays Richard.
