MacShayne: Winner Takes All is a 1994 mystery film that follows the story of MacShayne, a former con man who is trying to turn his life around. The movie stars Kenny Rogers as the titular character alongside Terry O'Quinn and Wendy Phillips. The movie starts with MacShayne trying to run an honest business as a private investigator. Despite his efforts, MacShayne's past soon catches up with him as a former accomplice named Jenna (played by Phillips) comes back into his life. Jenna is being pursued by a dangerous mobster named Victor Winslow (played by O'Quinn) who is after a valuable stolen item that she possesses.

When Jenna turns to MacShayne for help, he initially refuses. However, he soon realizes that he may not have much of a choice when Winslow and his goons start targeting not just Jenna, but also those close to MacShayne. As a result, MacShayne reluctantly agrees to help Jenna and embarks on an action-packed journey to retrieve the stolen item and stay one step ahead of Winslow.

Winslow is ruthless and cunning, yet there are moments where O'Quinn's performance also highlights Winslow's vulnerability and desperation.

Wendy Phillips rounds out the cast with a strong performance as Jenna. Her character is key to the plot and Phillips does an excellent job of bringing Jenna to life with her representation of the character's vulnerabilities, tenacity, and manipulative qualities. Her scenes with Rogers have strong chemistry and add an extra layer of complexity to the dynamic between their characters.

The movie also benefits from strong supporting performances from the rest of the cast, with notable turns by actors like Anthony Peck and Elliott Gould. The direction by E.W. Swackhamer is top-notch and keeps the pace moving at a steady clip throughout the film.
