Mamay is a 2003 Ukrainian film directed by Oles Sanin with cinematography done by Serhiy Mykhalchuk. The story is about two lovers, a fugitive and a beautiful Tatar woman, who come together. She ultimately saves his life from certain death despite their coming from societies with an age-old hatred. Mamay was Ukraine's submission for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2003.
