Science fiction, gangsters, and romance come together in the influential French film Mauvais Sang. Released in 1986 but set in Paris of the far future, the film explores the metaphor of a disease that kills those who live without love. The movie is beautifully evocative and defiantly odd, containing many iconic shots and unforgettable images. It is especially noted for its use of strong horizontal and vertical elements in the framing. It gathered many awards from the film community, including a Prix Louis-Delluc. Julie Delpy also won a Cesar Award for most promising actress for her role in the film.
