Missamma is a 1955 Telugu-language film directed by L. V. Prasad and produced by B. Nagi Reddy and Aluri Chakrapani under their banner, Vijaya Vauhini Studios. The film features a star-studded cast comprising N.T. Rama Rao, Savitri, Akkineni Nageshwara Rao, and Jamuna in the lead roles. The story revolves around a young woman named Chandra (Savitri) who is a brilliant and ambitious student. She decides to pursue her studies further and decides to study at a college in the city. However, her parents are worried about her safety and welfare in the big city, so they arrange for her to live with a distant relative, Sita Devi (Jamuna) and her husband Kalyan (N.T. Rama Rao).

Chandra soon finds out that her distant relatives are not quite the people her parents thought they were. Sita Devi is a lazy and manipulative woman who spends her entire day socializing with her friends and spending her husband's hard-earned money. Kalyan, on the other hand, is a perfectionist who is obsessed with cleanliness and order. He is easily agitated and is prone to fits of anger.

Despite the initial culture shock, Chandra manages to adapt and quickly becomes friends with Kalyan's assistant, Anand (Akkineni Nageshwara Rao). Anand is a jovial and charismatic man who is adored by all. However, he is also a bit of a player and has a reputation for breaking hearts.

Chandra and Anand's friendship soon turns into something deeper, but they are hesitant to reveal their feelings to each other. However, their growing fondness soon becomes apparent to Kalyan, who is strict about maintaining discipline and decorum in his household. He misunderstands their relationship and becomes irrationally angry, constantly berating Chandra and Anand.

As the story progresses, Chandra and Anand's relationship deepens, and they struggle to reconcile their feelings with Kalyan's strict rules. Meanwhile, Sita Devi, jealous of the attention her husband is giving Chandra, hatches a plan to ruin their relationship.

Missamma is a charming and romantic film that explores themes of love, friendship, and societal expectations. The chemistry between Savitri and Akkineni Nageshwara Rao is palpable, and their on-screen romance is a treat to watch. N.T. Rama Rao, as Kalyan, delivers an excellent performance, portraying his character's complexities and nuances with aplomb. The film's supporting cast, including Jamuna as Sita Devi, also delivers excellent performances.

The film's music, composed by S. Rajeswara Rao, is a highlight, and the songs have become classics in Telugu cinema. The film's iconic song "Aha naa pellanta" is still beloved by audiences today.

Overall, Missamma is an excellent example of the Golden Age of Telugu cinema. Its timeless story, memorable performances, and beautiful music have ensured its lasting popularity and cemented it as a classic of Indian cinema.
