Mitch Albom has a pretty great life. He is happily married, has a flourishing career as a sportswriter, newspaper columnist, screenwriter, and broadcaster. But when two men come into his life, he realizes that something's missing. The two men are Rabbi Albert Lewis, who presides over a thriving synagogue in a comfortable New Jersey suburb, and pastor Henry Covington, a recovering drug addict who preaches to the poor and homeless in a crumbling Detroit inner-city church. Albom comes to realize that both men take profound comfort in believing that there's a divine spark in all of us, and that one person can make a big difference as long as they have a little faith.
