Modern Problems is a comedy film that has an all-star cast including Chevy Chase, Dabney Coleman, Patti D'Arbanville, Mary Kay Place, Brian Doyle-Murray and Nell Carter. The film was written and directed by Ken Shapiro. Chevy Chase plays Max Fiedler, an air traffic controller at the city's busiest airport, Kennedy International. He is having a difficult time in his life and is stressed on the job. Things get worse when his girlfriend leaves him because he is constantly jealous. Since their separation, he seems to see her everywhere, each time with another man. You can tell that Max is starting to lose it. Driving home from an embarrassing get together, Max runs across a tractor trailer that is hauling some type of radioactive waste. The trunk spills its load, and it falls into Max through his car's sun roof. Later, Max starts to notice that he has developed some special powers, including telekinesis. Max then tries to use his new-found powers to strike back at all of his enemies and try to win back the heart of his girlfriend. He spends a weekend vacation with his friends, and upon arrival is uncomfortable that both his ex-wife and ex-girlfriend are also going to be in attendance. Another guest is a self-help author and well-known lothario, Mark Winslow, who also has his sights set on Max's ex-girlfriend. He pokes fun at Max while trying to seduce his girlfriend. Max unleashes his new powers on Winslow to humiliate him in front of the other guests. Max begins to notice how out of control he is and realizes that he can't handle the powers. He hopes that his regret will help win back the heart of his love. Another person at the house is given the power in the end.
