Rendition is about CIA agent Douglas Freeman, who goes to North Africa and ends up in a suicide attack that not only kills an agent, but numerous others. He was not the official target, the attack was meant for Abasi Fawal, who is helping the U.S., and processes interrogations and administers the torture techniques. An engineer by the name of Anwar lives in Chicago, with his mother and wife Isabella. Isabella is pregnant, when Anwar is suspected of being involved with terrorists, by phone records, she is left in the dark. He returns to the U.S. after business in South Africa. Once he is back, he is held and sent to a secretive location that is near the attack that happened earlier. He goes through torture and interrogation techniques for answers about being involved in terrorism. Isabella is baffled when the information for his flight has suddenly disappeared. Freeman is chosen to oversee the questioning of Anwar, who is in connection with Fawal himself. After questioning Anwar, Freeman is almost certain he is not guilty, however, his boss demands the interrogation continue, in order to save thousands of people from terrorism. Isabella is getting worried, so she travels to the U.S. and seeks out a friend for help. Trying to find out what has happened to her husband, her friend throws his power around to get answers, while being shut down at every corner. When a confession comes out from Anwar that he was promised 40,000.00 on his advice of making bombs for a known terrorist, Freeman becomes leery, and Anwar says it was waiting for him in South Africa, but the delivery never happened. Wondering if this is a lie about 40,000.00 for a man who makes 200,000.00 a year, Freeman has to figure out what Anwar is hiding or what he stands to lose, in a game between the CIA and a well-known terrorist.
