Nestled in the heart of Los Angeles, Alice Kinney (Reese Witherspoon) is a newly single mother who has just moved into her father's home with her two daughters, Isabel and Rosie. Once in the bustling city, Alice meets three young men who become unexpected guests in her home. Turning their living space into a makeshift home, the new family bonds in strange and unexpected ways, navigating the ups and downs of life and love.

Directed by Hallie Meyers-Shyer and produced by Nancy Meyers, Home Again is a romantic comedy with a twist. Witherspoon plays the leading lady, Alice Kinney, who's recently separated from her husband (Michael Sheen) and directionless in her career as a young, aspiring interior decorator. Her father (Kevin Kline), a famous director and filmmaker, has recently passed away and Alice is feeling the weight of the world on her shoulders as she tries to take care of her two daughters while figuring out what the next steps are for her in life.

One night, Alice meets a young man named Harry (Pico Alexander) at a bar and they hit it off. She invites him and his two friends, George (Jon Rudnitsky) and Teddy (Nat Wolff), to stay at her guest house for a few days until they can get their filmmaking careers off the ground. What starts off as a seemingly temporary arrangement quickly turns into a long-term living situation as the young men become somewhat of a family to Alice and her daughters.

As the days go by, Alice and Harry's relationship becomes increasingly romantic, but it's complicated by the fact that Alice is still technically married and Harry is decades younger than she is. Adding even more tension is the presence of her estranged husband, Austen (Michael Sheen), who suddenly shows up in LA to try and win Alice back. As the four of them navigate their complicated relationships, they all learn more about themselves and what they really want.

The film explores themes of love, motherhood, career struggles and creating a new family dynamic. Home Again is a heartwarming and entertaining movie that showcases Reese Witherspoon's talent as a leading lady in a romantic comedy. The addition of the three young men brings a fresh element to the genre and provides some hilarious moments as they navigate the world of adulting for the first time. The chemistry between Witherspoon and Pico Alexander is electric, and their scenes together are both romantic and funny.

The film is not without its flaws, however. Some scenes feel a little too cliché, and the storyline can be predictable at times. Additionally, while the young men bring a fun dynamic to the film, their backstory and development could have been explored more fully. They come across as a little one-dimensional at times, which can take away from the overall impact of the film.

Despite these minor critiques, Home Again is a charming film that will make audiences laugh and feel warm inside. Reese Witherspoon delivers a stellar performance as Alice, proving once again that she's one of Hollywood's most talented actresses. Michael Sheen and Candice Bergen (who plays Alice's mother) also shine in their supporting roles, providing some poignant moments throughout the film.

Overall, Home Again is a feel-good movie that is perfect for a date night or girls' night out. It's a movie about family, love, and finding your way back to yourself. As Alice says at the end of the film, "I'm not just someone's daughter, someone's wife, someone's mother. I'm me." It's an empowering message that will be appreciated by audiences everywhere.

Home Again is a 2017 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 37 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.8 and a MetaScore of 41.
