Roadie is a 1980 musical comedy film directed by Alan Rudolph and starring Meat Loaf, Kaki Hunter, and Art Carney. The movie tells the story of a guy named Travis Redfish, who is a beer supplier and self-proclaimed "greatest roadie in the world." Travis works for a famous rock band called "Blue Oyster Cult," helping them set up their equipment before concerts and taking care of various problems they encounter on the road. However, he dreams of becoming a promoter and organizing concerts himself.

The movie begins with Travis leaving behind his job as a beer supplier in Texas and hitchhiking his way to New York City to follow Blue Oyster Cult on their nationwide tour. He is a devoted fan of the band and has an encyclopedic knowledge of rock music, which impresses everyone he meets. Along the way, he meets a beautiful groupie named Lola Bouilliabase (played by Kaki Hunter) and her sleazy manager, Mohammed Johnson (played by Don Cornelius). Travis and Lola hit it off right away, and she joins him on his adventure, hoping to get closer to the band.

As Travis travels across the country with Blue Oyster Cult, he faces various challenges, including dealing with the band's demanding manager, Artie Fleck (played by Art Carney). Artie is constantly yelling at Travis and the other roadies, trying to keep the band on schedule and avoid any mishaps that could ruin the tour.

Despite this, Travis remains determined to pursue his dream, and he keeps pitching his ideas to Artie and the band. Eventually, his hard work pays off when he convinces the band to perform a concert in his hometown of Houston, Texas. He even manages to secure a massive billboard to promote the show, giving him a taste of the glamorous life of a promoter.

However, things take a turn for the worse when Lola is kidnapped by Mohammed Johnson, who is jealous of Travis's relationship with her. Travis and the band manage to rescue Lola, but not before she is badly injured. With the help of the band's doctor, Travis nurses Lola back to health, and they both realize their feelings for each other.

In the end, Travis achieves his dream of becoming a promoter, and Blue Oyster Cult puts on an amazing show in Houston. The movie concludes with Travis and Lola walking off into the sunset together, ready for their next adventure.

Overall, Roadie is an entertaining and lighthearted movie that features a fantastic soundtrack and memorable performances from its cast. While it may not be a cinematic masterpiece, it is a fun watch for anyone who loves rock music and road trip movies.
