On August 22, 1945 the Ukishima Maru was carrying over 3000 Korean laborers and their families from a military facility and heading toward the Korean port of Busan. On the 24th however there was a mysterious explosion and hundreds of lives were lost. The official count is far less than the Korean will like to believe or will admit too, as the count was taken by the Japanese. This film supports the Korean version of what happened on that fateful day. While officially the United States and Japan both say that it was a U.S. mine that caused the actual explosion, the Koreans of the time feel otherwise.
