Speed of Life is a drama-science fiction film that centers around David Bowie's 1972 Ziggy Stardust concert in Cleveland, Ohio. The movie opens with a young couple, June (Allison Tolman) and Edward (Ray Santiago), excitedly preparing for the concert, with June being pregnant with their first child. In a sudden turn of events, Edward dies in a car accident, leaving June devastated and alone.

Fast forward 24 years later, and June (Ann Dowd) is still grieving the loss of her husband. Her daughter, Jaleen (played by Jorja Fox), is now a grown woman and struggling with her own issues, including a strained relationship with her mother. At this point, the biggest twist in the movie's plot arrives - a strange time-warp portal opens up in June's living room, transporting David Bowie (Colvin Ang) to the future, years after his Ziggy Stardust days.

The young and vibrant Bowie is initially confused and disoriented by his surroundings, but he quickly adapts and strikes up a friendship with the now-older June. Together, they reminisce about the past and discuss Bowie's music and legacy. Initially, Jaleen is skeptical about Bowie's sudden appearance, but she eventually warms up to him and they form a bond over their shared passions for music and art.

The film takes an interesting approach to exploring themes such as grief, loss, and nostalgia. The time-bending element adds a unique twist to the otherwise predictable storyline, as it allows June to confront her inner demons and come to terms with the past. Bowie's character is also portrayed in a compelling manner, as he reflects on his career and legacy in a way that feels authentic and grounded.

In terms of performances, the cast is excellent across the board. Ann Dowd delivers a moving and nuanced portrayal of a woman grappling with loss and regret. Jorja Fox is equally strong as Jaleen, imbuing the character with a sense of vulnerability and uncertainty. Colvin Ang does a surprisingly convincing job of playing David Bowie, capturing the musician's magnetic presence and flamboyant style.

Furthermore, the movie boasts some impressive visual and sound design, particularly in its re-creation of Bowie's iconic concert. The use of real-life footage and archival material adds a layer of authenticity to the film, and the costumes and makeup are top-notch.

Overall, Speed of Life is a thoughtful and engaging film that addresses weighty themes in a creative and unexpected way. While it may not appeal to everyone, fans of David Bowie and those interested in exploring complex emotions through the lens of science fiction will find much to enjoy here.
