John owns a newspaper. He has high ideals and uses his paper for the public good. He's campaigning against crime in the city and upsetting the politicians. His fiances father, the District Attorney, learns that John's own father is a criminal and decides not to prosecute. John doesn't know about his father and publishes against the District Attorney. It's a tangled web that's woven.
