This classic film, based on the fall of the Alamo in 1836, provides viewers with an inside look at how this historical tragedy came about. Although based on history, this film is not a classroom-study of the events that led to the fall of the Alamo. It is a rich and interesting view of the different personalities of the three main characters who are involved in this depiction. Davy Crockett (played by John Wayne), Jim Bowie, and Lieutenant Colonel William Travis all have different opinions of how to handle this attack by Mexican general Santa Anna and his troops and it is their personalities and opinions that form the sub-basis for this intriguing film.
