The Crimson Rivers, also known under its original French title of Les Rivières Pourpres, is a French psychological horror film from acclaimed film director, Mathieu Kassovitz. The film was directly based off of the novel The Crimson Rivers by Jean-Christophe Grangé whom also wrote the film's much-lauded screenplay. The plot of the film centers in on two detectives (portrayed by Vincent Cassel and Jean Reno respectively) whom are looking into a series of bizarre murders being committed around the Alps. Their journey takes ever darker and more peculiar turns the further they proceed into their investigation; rather than answers they find only despair from "He who controls the Crimson Rivers."
