The Garden is a 2009 documentary which explores the building of an urban garden in L.A following the 1992 riots. Local farmers working in the garden are able to produce fresh fruits and vegetables and sustain themselves without the use of food stamps or government assistance. Eventually the farm workers receive eviction notices and are told that the garden will be destroyed to make room for warehouses. This film follows the two and a half year court battle to try and save the garden, and explores how important urban gardening can be for those living in the inner city.
