Veteran comedic actor Art Carney dons the red suit to play Santa Claus himself in the 1984 holiday fantasy The Night They Saved Christmas. Jacqueline Smith plays a hard working Mom, Claudia Baldwin, who has moved her whole family to the site of an arctic oil expedition. Her family receives a visit from one of Santa's helpers to help spread the word that they dynamite that they are using is causing major damage to North Pole City, threatening Santa and Christmas.

It's up to Claudia and her three children to visit with Santa and convince the oil company that they are way off base so that they can save Christmas.
