In a low budget World War II epic, a group of five convicted criminals is offered pardons in return for their participation in a likely suicide commando mission behind enemy lines. The film was made long before "The Dirty Dozen." Their mission is to extract an Italian general in Yugoslavia that wants to defect to the allies. The farther they get behind enemy lines, the more casualties we see. It's a daring plan with immeasurable odds.
