The Way Home
- 1 hr 20 min
Welcome to the dog days of summer when a mother and her son, Sang-woo, embark on some adventures to the country. Sang-woo is going to live with his 75-year-old grandmother while his mother searches for work after a failed business venture in Seoul. After long journeys, the mother and son reach their destination, a dusty bus stop in the countryside of Korea. Sang-woo, who has arrived only with toys and junk food, shows no respect for his mute grandmother and has frustrations due to house being primitive with no running water. His mother apologizes for having to leave Sang-woo, telling her mother it will not be long before leaving on the next bus. Alone, Sang-woo pays no attention at all to his grandmother and wants nothing to do with her at all. Within time, Sang-woo comes to love his grandmother, about the time Sang-woo's mother sends letters to tell them she is coming to bring Sang-woo home. Sang-woo then chooses to do what he can before leaving, which is to thread needles to be used after the return to Seoul.
